As Jesus teaches the crowds in parables, the first of these is often known as the parable of the sower. However, the emphasis of the passage is not so much on the sower but on the various kinds of soil and how they respond to the word of God. As we begin a new year this is a good challenge for us to consider how we are hearing and responding to the message of the kingdom.
